NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS VARIANCE
TO THE RESIDENTS AND PROPERTY OWNERS IN THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF MONITOR.
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Charter Township of Monitor Zoning Board of Appeals will conduct a Public Hearing on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 6:30 p.m., in the meeting room located within the Charter Township of Monitor Hall at 2483 Midland Road, Bay City, Michigan 48706. The owner is requesting a variance of 5 feet of the required space between the accessory building (pole barn) and the dwelling on the lot. The ordinance requires a 30-foot separation between these buildings and the owner is requesting that there only be a 25-foot separation with a 5-foot variance.
The owner is also requesting that there be a side yard setback variance of 10-feet from the property line to the edge of the pole barn. The ordinance currently requires a 40-foot separation between a building of this size and the property line and the owner is requesting this be a 30-foot separation with a 10-foot variance. The accessory buildings or pole barns are permitted in the Agricultural Zone and the dimension or size of this building would be acceptable with this 2.7 +or- acre parcel. However, the setback should be adhered to unless there is practical difficulty or significant hardship created by the unique features of the parcel of property.

The application and supporting documentation are available to review at the offices of the Monitor Township Hall, 2483 Midland Road, Bay City, Michigan between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, excluding holidays. All written comments will be received at the Monitor Township Office prior to the time of the hearing. Please note that the office is closed for summer hours and will not be open on Fridays.
The Charter Township of Monitor will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services such as signers or the hearing impaired and readers for printed materials being considered at the hearing, to individuals with disabilities who are present at the hearing, upon ten days’ notice.
