Notice of Public Hearing-Ordinance Amendments

TO:      THE RESIDENTS AND PROPERTY OWNERS OF MONITOR CHARTER TOWNSHIP

Notice is hereby given that the Monitor Charter Township Planning Commission, on its own initiative, will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. in the meeting room at the Monitor Township Hall, located at 2483 East Midland Road, Bay City, Michigan 48706, to conduct a public hearing on potential amendments to the Township Zoning Ordinance, being Ordinance 67, as amended, to consider the modification of definitions of signs, use of electronic changeable copy signs in the industrial, commercial, agricultural or residential zones and to regulate the intensity at the property line the amount of flashing or scrolling that can occur and in what zones have what uses available;  finally to finalize and consider an amendment to Section 3.27 dealing with accessory structures on residential lots to clarify whether those structures need to be 10, 15 or 40 feet from the property line for both the rear and side yard setback and under what conditions they can be placed close to the property and finalize requirements and definitions of shipping and storage containers.  Additionally, to clarify whether  a smaller accessory building could be added on to if it is too close to the property line.   Lastly to finalize regulations and definitions of storage and/or shipping containers.

You are welcome to attend and express your opinions at the hearing. The proposed text amendments are available for inspection at the Monitor Township Hall, 2483 East Midland Road, Bay City, Michigan, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, excluding holidays.  The office is closed on Fridays.  The above those hours, written comments will be received at the Monitor Township Office prior to the time of the hearing.

The Charter Township of Monitor will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services, such as signers for the hearing impaired and readers for printed materials being considered at the hearing, to individuals with disabilities who are present at the hearing, upon ten (10) days notice.
