NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
TO: THE RESIDENTS AND PROPERTY OWNERS OF THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF MONITOR
Notice is hereby given that the Monitor Charter Township Planning Commission will conduct a Public Hearing on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at 6:00 p.m., in the meeting room of the Monitor Township Hall, 2483 E. Midland Road, Bay City, Michigan 48706, to consider on its own initiative an amendment to the Township Zoning Ordinance being Ordinance 67 as amended to Charter 12 dealing with the Flood Plain Overlay District in its entirety. The reason that the Planning Commission is of the opinion that it is not necessary to have this Chapter in the Zoning Ordinance any longer is due to requirements from FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) with the cooperation of EGLE (Environmental Great Lakes and Energy of the State of Michigan), to have free standing ordinances establishing flood plains and requirements for federally underwritten flood insurance, etc. In order to avoid any conflict with what will now become Ordinance 59-A, it was determined that the complete repeal of Charter 12, dealing with the Flood Plain Overlay District would avoid any type of conflict or ambiguity between the two ordinances.
You may attend in person, have others appear on your behalf or express your views in writing. If you wish to inspect the proposed modification or deletion of Charter 12, you may do so at the offices of the Township Hall between the hours of 9:00am and 11:00am and 1:00pm and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, excluding holidays. You are free to leave written comments for consideration by the Planning Commission, but all written comments must be received the day before the Hearing.
The Charter Township of Monitor will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services, such as signers for the hearing impaired and readers for printed materials being considered at the hearing, to individuals with disability who are present at the hearing, upon ten (10) days’ notice.
