Notice of Public Hearing

To:  The Residents and Property Owners of Monitor Charter Township

Notice is Hereby Given that the Monitor Township Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a public hearing on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 7:00 p.m.  at the Monitor Township Hall, 2483 East Midland Road, Bay City, Michigan, to consider the application of Rodney Tacey, owner of the below described property, who is requesting a variance to allow a 1,200 foot pole barn to be constructed which would intrude into the required side and rear yard.  The Applicant is seeking a variance of 10 feet on the west of the property line and 12 feet on the south of the property line.  Resulting in a 5 foot side yard variance to the west and a 3 foot rear yard variance to the south.  The Zoning Ordinance, being Ordinance 67 of Ordinances of the Charter Township of Monitor requires there be a 25 foot setback but if certain drainage systems to effectively eliminate any runoff are installed, that set back may be reduced to 15 feet.  Further, a variance is needed from Section 3.27 of Ordinance 67 to have an oversize structure since that he wants a variance of 400 square feet since the maximum size building permitted for the area of his lot would be 800 square foot and his request is for 1,200 square feet.

The property is zoned R1 and the intrusion into this yard is not permitted without a variance and is located within Monitor Township, County of Bay, and State of Michigan, Parcel Number 100-036-200-060-00 and is generally located at 2868 E. Salzburg Road, Bay City, Michigan 48706. 

All documents are available for inspection at the Monitor Township Hall, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., excluding holidays.  You are welcome to attend the hearing.  Written comments will be received at the Monitor Township Hall, 2483 East Midland Road, Bay City, Michigan.
